Indian cuisine went and many is incomplete if there is no dal in their diet...
It's a good source of protein in your body and many North American companies are adopting the habit of including lentils in their diet.
I have modified the traditional recipe with some more herbs and ingredients.
It's the most used lentil in asian countries and readily available in any grocery shop..
Preparation Time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins
3/4 cup toor dal
2 stick of spring onion
1 whole lemon juice
1 tbsp ginger chopped
1 tbsp garlic chopped
1 1/2 tsp basil leaves
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tbsp olive oil
Wash and boil toor dal for 5-7 mins
Heat the pan and add oil, cumin seeds & asafoetida and let it sputter for 10secs.
Add onion and saute for 10 -15secs after that add ginger and garlic with salt and saute for a min..
Thereafter add toor dal and spices with lemon juice and switch off the flame.
Garnish it with fresh basil leaves or dried one anything will do...
Enjoy with hot rice or roti /flatbread...
